Lords this Friday at King Cobra!

Greeting Tundra Marauders,
if you are in Seattle I hope you are enjoying the sun, supposed to be nice all week! Just a heads up, the Lords are playing this Friday at King Cobra around 10ish.
We're playing with Ladybird Unition and Plaster (former Coffin Break guys). Then on Saturday we're trucking over to Tri-Cities to play another show with Ladybird at the club, Ray's Golden Lion. It's gonna be hot as hell over there, let's hope the battle van makes it.
Also, for those of you who went to our show a few months ago at King Cobra, the Stranger's blog had a hilarious shot of our friend Greg who was dancing around on stage with the glorious Wizard head here! You can see more shots here. Hope to see you Friday, we have some new songs to try out. :)--Pat

Greetings Tundra Marauders,

A quick thanks to Rick Goral for designing this kick ass poster for our show--notice the cobra coming out of the skull! Also, thanks to Rachel or new "merch girl," and KEXP for playing us.

We play this Friday night at the King Cobra with Bronze Fawn and Panther Attack. King Cobra is on 916 Pike St, accross the street from Nuemo's.

The Lords are busy writing songs and more songs. The new songs are still heavy but more upbeat, refined, and shorter. We'll still have epics of course but also some quick 3 min numbers. I think we are going to try and go back to the studio with Phil at Avast2 in September to record a second album in 2008. We want to be ambitious as possible until our ears bleed. I think releasing a record, having your first show be your CD release show, making a music video, and then doing it all over for a second record, all in 2008 will be a good experiment. Nothing like a broken heart to ignite the flames of creativity...

Also, we need 2 things if you know anyone: an animator to make some psychadelic images for a music video and second, a way to make the giant head on the left move robotically. Well, that would be cool at least.-Pat
P.S. I think I fixed the issue where if someone replies to this email not everyone on the list will get your message. Also, you can email us at henryhanks@gmail.com or here.

Lords at the Comet Wed Night

Greetings Tundra Army,
The snow has retreated from Seattle and the sun reigns once again, at least for like 2 hrs. Anyway, it's been a busy few weeks for the Lords. We released our first record, played our first show at the Rendezvous, and now we are starting to get our first reviews here and here and here. Good stuff. Just did an interview with Metal Maniacs magazine as well--has anyone heard of it? I didn't until recently. Not a big metal fan myself unless you count these guys. I was in love with the model from the video, remember?
Check out the photo below from the Rendezvous show--I have to say, Jim's glow in the dark drums are bad ass.

Anyway, we play the Comet tomorrow night, come out if you can! We'll crush your demons and lift your spirits.
-Pat

Lords in the Seattle Times

Hi everyone, hope you are all well. We got a nice little blurb in the Seattle Times today about our CD release party tomorrow night. Pretty cool. You can check it here

I think it will be fun. James our drummer, made these sweet drum heads that glow in the dark and have a falcon and the band name as the logo. I'll try to post a pic soon. See you tomorrow, I think we play around 11.--Pat

Tundra Welcomes to All!

Greeting everyone and welcome to Tundra Army, a blog about the band Lords of the North, as well as random oddities. This blog is just starting off, so forgive the look of it--it will get prettier as we go. :)

First, Lords of the North is a stoner rock band I started with James Roche in the cat infested hell hole of his basement in the summer of 2007. It was awesome to play loud, crushing, doomness for the first time, but natural like riding a dog powered battle sled. Then we put an ad in The Stranger and Craig's List for a guitar player and were given a mighty riff god, Tony Tharp. (By the way, ask Chris Duryee from Raz Rez about his experience with putting an ad out for a singer. Holy shit hilarious. He even has a actual recording of the guy trying out, singing "I'm so hot for you, I need a cold shower.." or something grunge like that.
Anyway, the next thing I know, we are a band and are putting out a record at the same time as our first show! March 22 by the way. That just kicks ass and is not the normal band path. "Normal" is play for awhile, then play out for awhile and get sick of your songs, and then record! Lords has been different and easier thankfully.

Also in green news, the whole marijuana persecution issue is starting to remind me about Republicans who bash homosexuality, and then get caught in a dirty ass stall. Or Democrats who bash prostitution and then get caught with a hooker. Marijuana needs to be decriminalized, period. Check out this interesting letter from Rick Steves and the ACLU. The little Lords video below I made says it all. Talk soon.-Pat
